A Beautiful Mind

And now, for the lighter side of psychotherapy… here’s a thought I recently had: there seems to be an awful lot of mental illness in “Beauty and the Beast” (over and above, of course, the whole Maison des Lunes number):

1. Belle: Stockholm syndrome

2. Beast: Intermittent explosive disorder, possibly Asperger’s disorder

3. Belle’s father: dementia

4. Cogsworth: obsessive compulsive personality disorder

5. Lumiere: possible sexual addiction

6. Gaston: narcissistic personality disorder

7. LeFou: dependent personality disorder
